Donate equipment

Put your old binoculars, scopes, and field guides to good use helping children and adults learn and appreciate birding and nature.

You may be eligible for a tax deduction as you convert an asset to a benefit for others.

For more information about donating equipment, contact Lu Lackore by email or by calling (239) 434-6280.

A donated spotting scope is used to teach beginning birders how to set one up, focus, and use during a Birding 101 class at Naples beach.

Other equipment including binoculars and field guides has been collected and provided to the Panama Audubon Society to begin programs there.

Volunteer to help

Collier County Audubon Society is a volunteer-run organization and more volunteers are always needed. Individuals and groups can help in a variety of ways.

For those who like to get out and involved in physical activities, opportunities exist assisting with programs and field trips, assisting at special events such as Christmas bird counts, the Southwest Florida Birding Festival, and participating in wildlife surveys. Others volunteers assist writing grants or help with membership information. For additional information about volunteering in any of these areas, contact Lori Beall.

Volunteers may also help by becoming conservation activists who will write letters, make phone calls, and attend area meetings and conferences. For more information about helping in this area, please contact Alan Keller.

An area for volunteers who may prefer to work at home is researching topics and writing articles for the Collier County Audubon Society's newsletter, the Audugram. For more information about volunteering with the Audugram, contact editor Lori Beall.

The amount of time spent is totally up to the volunteer.
